Butterfly Beauty
The other day I was walking my dogs, and a sudden flicker from something to my right had me glance over. Then, like a scene from a romantic movie, where someone does a double-take out of admiration for someone’s beauty, I took a double-take for this amazing butterfly.
The vivid colors of yellow, blue, and black, were like something I have never seen on a butterfly before. As I was admiring her glide with controlled movement, I started to think about how butterflies cannot see their wings. They cannot see their markings or their beauty that they hold.
I have heard many people admire their symmetry and I also think it is amazing how perfect mother nature is.
I thought about people and what they may think when they look in the mirror. Do they see the beauty in them? Do they go right to their perceived flaws?
I know I have done the latter more often than the former, but now, when I look in the mirror, sometimes I laugh and say, “Wow Jenn, look at your hair!” Then, I smile and tell myself, “You are beautiful.” This has helped me greatly with my mindset and maintaining positivity.
If I heard someone tell a friend or family member that they looked like something other than beautiful, I would certainly say something, so, I do not allow myself to speak badly about me.
What do you do when you look in the mirror? Do you pull your proverbial collar up and wink? -queue the song, “You’re so Vain,” or do you make carnival mirror faces at yourself?
Seriously, I hope it is the former because even if it seems like the song, “You’re so Vain,” is playing in the background, I hope you acknowledge the beauty that is within you.
Love and light,
Jenn
